Nurse Extern II - Pulmonary Rehab

Join Children's Hospital of Michigan as a Nurse Extern II in our Pulmonary Rehabilitation program. In this patient care support role, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide essential assistance and comfort to patients during their healthcare journey.

Clinical Setting

Children's Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. The hospital features advanced surgical services, specialized imaging technology designed for children including PET and MRI, a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, and a dedicated pediatric burn center. Our experts provide specialized care in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine across the main hospital, Children's Hospital of Michigan - Troy, and six ambulatory sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care activities under the delegation and supervision of a registered nurse
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital signs, ambulation, and other patient care duties within the scope of a patient care technician or equivalent
• Report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the supervising registered nurse
• Work as a member of the patient care services team providing both direct and indirect patient care

Required Qualifications

• Applicants may apply starting 6 months before graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Must pass all senior courses to remain in the program

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) employment
• Day shift
• Primary location: Detroit, Michigan

Supervision and Mentoring

You will be assigned to an experienced RN each shift who will instruct and mentor you in the assigned clinical area and provide ongoing feedback on your performance.
