NURSE EXTERN II PRN- Night shift

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Nurse Extern II for night shift PRN work. This role is designed for nursing students to gain practical experience in a clinical oncology setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse mentor.

As a Nurse Extern II, you will work with oncology patients and assist with activities of daily living and basic nursing care. You will support the nursing team in maintaining a safe and clean patient environment while adhering to all applicable regulations and accrediting standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to oncology patients based on identification of the patient's age, physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
• Assist in general patient care through collaboration with the RN and healthcare team
• Assist nursing staff in treatment procedures using validated skills and competencies
• Provide patient care including taking vital signs, weight, and intake-output measurements
• Make rounds and handle patient and family assistance tasks following patient safety policies
• Identify and report environmental conditions that may put patients at risk

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS Certification
• Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited BSN nursing program with completion of first semester nursing fundamentals course
• Concurrent enrollment or completion of Complex Health Nursing 1
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Letter of recommendation from nursing school faculty
• Successful completion of Moffitt's Oncology Tech orientation, bootcamp, and checklist within the first 90 days of employment
• CNA certification is not required for students who have completed the nursing fundamentals course and are actively enrolled in a BSN program

Schedule

• Night shift, PRN (as needed)
• Minimum of one shift per pay period required
• Flexible schedule available due to school obligations

Compensation

• $22.50 per hour

Additional Requirements

• Transcripts must be submitted to manager twice per calendar year to verify continued enrollment and good standing in BSN program
