Nurse Extern II | 2 West | Night Shift |

Yuma Regional Medical Center (Onvida Health) is seeking a Nurse Extern II for the 2 West unit on the night shift. Under the direction of a registered nurse, you will perform clinical skills including medication administration and IV therapy for which you have received didactic instruction in your nursing program.

This is a regular full-time position working 72 hours every two weeks on nights.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a registered nurse to perform nursing skills including medication administration and IV therapy
• Advocate for patients and families, representing their concerns and serving as a moral agent in identifying and resolving ethical and clinical concerns
• Recognize, appreciate, and incorporate cultural differences, spiritual beliefs, and diverse perspectives into patient care
• Participate in the nursing process and clinical decision-making with guidance from your RN preceptor
• Perform patient assessments focusing on physical and psychosocial needs in a systematic manner
• Participate in developing outcome-based plans of care prioritized by nursing assessment
• Maintain a safe physical environment and acknowledge patient and family comfort needs
• Utilize the nursing process to compare patient responses with observable outcomes specified in the plan of care
• Communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team while maintaining confidentiality
• Actively listen to patients and families to ensure appropriate communication and accurate relay of information
• Participate in team meetings and maintain ongoing communication with unit educators, directors, and preceptors for evaluation of practice
• Identify patient and family education needs and collaborate on discharge planning
• Maintain and update your skills checklist and provide updates to Resource Coordinators and unit educators as designated
• Demonstrate willingness to be taught, coached, and mentored

Compensation

• Hourly pay rate
• Salary range: $22.00 to $35.20 per hour (minimum to maximum)
• Mid-point: $28.60 per hour
• Actual salaries may vary based on skills and experience

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Zero years of experience required
