This nursing internship position is designed for currently enrolled RN students to gain practical clinical experience under direct nursing supervision. You will work in a patient care environment providing a wide variety of services while developing foundational nursing skills.
Responsibilities
- Collect and document patient data including initial and routine vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output records
- Coordinate care activities to provide optimal patient care within your assigned caseload
- Provide patient care appropriate to patient age, cultural beliefs, religious preferences, and individual barriers to understanding
- Communicate effectively with team members, seek clarification on assignments as needed, and share relevant patient and family information with appropriate team members
- Comply with departmental policies, adhere to break and lunch schedules, follow parking guidelines, and use time clock correctly
- Perform other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or requested
- Perform approved extern patient care interventions as outlined in the position addendum
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an RN degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (unofficial transcript required)
- Must not be on academic probation and must be in good standing with current nursing program
- Must have successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing course
- Must have successfully completed at least one first-level Medical-Surgical nursing course
- Letter of recommendation from a nursing instructor required
- Must submit a 500-word essay identifying why you chose nursing and how you apply CHRISTUS Core Values to your individual practice
- AHA BLS certification required
