Nurse Extern - ER

Nacogdoches Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern for the Emergency Department. In this role, you will assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment. You will work under the supervision of clinically competent nursing staff to support emergency care operations and gain valuable clinical experience.

Clinical Setting

The Emergency Unit provides care to patients of all ages presenting with acute and high-risk conditions. You will work alongside experienced nursing staff in a dynamic environment that requires quick thinking and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to assigned patients
• Support nursing staff in delivering emergency care
• Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Schedule

You must be able to work at least eight hours per week. Shifts are available in increments of 4, 8, 10, and 12 hours as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing in the 3rd or 4th semester of the nursing program
• Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab
• BLS certification (must be completed by 3 months of employment)
