Nurse Extern Early Admissions Unit

This is a Nurse Extern position in the Early Admissions Unit at SSM Saint Louis University Hospital, offering variable shift hours. This role is designed for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience under direct supervision and mentorship.

You will work closely with a registered nurse preceptor who will provide personalized 1:1 clinical training and guidance throughout your shifts. This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real clinical setting while developing foundational nursing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized patient care consistent with each patient's plan of care under RN direction and supervision
• Report changes in patient condition to the RN in a timely manner
• Make rounds and handle basic patient requests
• Perform patient and family assistance tasks as needed
• Seek and utilize feedback from the Clinical Leader and RN to identify opportunities for clinical performance improvement

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing
• Successfully completed one clinical nursing rotation
