Nurse Extern CVMSICU

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Extern for the Cardiovascular and Medical Intensive Care Unit (CVMSICU). This role is designed to provide nursing students with a structured learning opportunity to acquire basic clinical skills and advance their knowledge of patient care in an intensive care setting.

As a Nurse Extern, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN), performing delegated basic patient care services. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with activities of daily living and maintaining a safe patient environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Cardiovascular and Medical Intensive Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's Level II Trauma Center with advanced heart and vascular programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated basic patient care services under RN supervision
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Maintain a safe patient environment
• Support the nursing team in providing patient care

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program
• Successfully completed at least one clinical semester of the core curriculum
• Active American Heart Association CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider card
• Ability to maintain flexible scheduling of at least 32 hours per month, including one weekend shift and one major holiday in summer and one major holiday in winter

Schedule and Onboarding

• Flexible scheduling based on unit need and colleague availability
• Minimum 32 hours per month required
• Must include one weekend shift per month
• Must include one major holiday shift in summer and one in winter
• Mandatory full-week hospital orientation required (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) before position begins

Additional Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, background check, reference verification, health assessment, and credential/license verification.
