Job Description

Cooper Norcross Health is seeking Nurse Externs to gain real-world acute care hospital experience. This role is designed for current nursing students (typically between junior and senior semesters) to work alongside Registered Nurses, focusing on patient care, service excellence, and high-quality outcomes.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the acute care hospital setting at Cooper Norcross University Hospital in Camden, a 663-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and the busiest in South Jersey. Cooper Norcross Health operates multiple facilities including MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, a children's hospital, and specialized treatment centers, serving more than 2.54 million patients annually.

Responsibilities

  • Administer nursing care under the direction of a Professional Registered Nurse
  • Acclimate to the acute care nursing environment
  • Participate in nursing activities previously learned and demonstrated as part of your nursing school curriculum
  • Learn the role of professional nursing and the collaboration and integration of technology with the interprofessional team

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, entering senior year
  • Completion of one full clinical rotation in an acute care setting
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • American Heart Association BLS certification

Additional Requirements

  • One letter of recommendation (from faculty or professional) required; two letters preferred
  • Ability to work 36 hours per week with no planned time-off

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $16.50 to $25.00
