Nurse Extern - CCU

This is a developmental program for nursing students seeking to build clinical skills across multiple nursing specialties in a critical care unit (CCU) setting. The Nurse Extern role is designed to provide expanded clinical experience for RN nursing students while assisting the Registered Nursing staff with patient care activities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation
• Perform patient care activities under the supervision of Registered Nursing staff
• Report significant observations to a Registered Nurse
• Develop clinical skills across multiple nursing specialties

Clinical Setting

This position is located in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) at Valley Baptist Medical Center - Harlingen.

Schedule

• Per Diem
• Days shift

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program
• Completion of first clinical rotation
• AHA BLS certification

Program Structure

This position requires participation in a guided training and development program aligned to the scope outlined by the State-specific Board of Nursing.
