Nurse Extern - Cardiac Progressive Care

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Nurse Extern for our 20-bed Cardiac Progressive Care unit. This role provides nursing students with hands-on experience caring for patients with cardiac and complex medical needs while building clinical skills in assessment, telemetry, and progressive nursing care. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, contributing to patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being while gaining practical experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs under RN supervision
• Provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures
• Participate in continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge

Schedule

• 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Contingent position

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, OR currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations
• Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg (acute care setting)
• Current Health Care Provider Certification
