Nurse Extern BCU PRN

Join HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke's as a Nurse Extern in the Behavioral Care Unit (BCU) on a PRN basis. This position offers hands-on experience in nursing while you progress through your nursing program. You will work as part of the nursing team, gaining practical skills and confidence in the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate patient care.

Clinical Setting

Presbyterian St. Luke's is a tertiary/quaternary hospital in the Denver metro area with over 140 years of service. The hospital includes Rocky Mountain Children's pediatric hospital and features award-winning programs in cancer care, solid organ transplant, and complex orthopedics.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• No prior nursing experience required

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) position
• No travel required

Compensation

Hourly wage estimate: $22.05 - $29.78 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Typical candidates are hired below the midpoint of the range.
