Nurse 1 (Part-time) - Deaf School

This part-time nursing position serves students, staff, and visitors at a school for the deaf. You will provide skilled nursing care including assessment, medication administration, emergency procedures, health education, and first aid/CPR. The role requires strong clinical documentation, infection control adherence, and collaboration with the school's health care team.

Responsibilities

• Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress of students and staff
• Administer prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans
• Provide emergency care procedures as needed
• Deliver health education including counseling and prevention services
• Establish a compassionate, supportive environment for patients and families
• Provide first aid and CPR
• Chart and record patient information, clinical appointments, treatment records, and diagnostic evaluations
• Plan and implement patient care goals and measure health outcomes against established standards
• Maintain and recommend adjustments to patient care as needed
• Adhere to infection-control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations
• Maintain nursing supplies inventory and place orders as needed
• Provide health screenings and preventative programs
• Communicate effectively with the health care team and participate in problem-solving
• Maintain current professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in Ohio as issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code
• Must pass the Sign Language Proficiency Interview at the Survival level within one year of hire

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
• Position follows the Ohio Deaf and Blind Education Services school year calendar, which includes summer programming as applicable

Additional Requirements

• Final candidate must submit to urinalysis testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment
• Applicants with verified positive drug test results will not receive a final offer of employment
• Applicants with positive test results will not be considered for any State of Ohio position for one year
