Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical-Oncology-Stepdown Unit for a full-time night shift position. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to acute care trauma and oncology patients in a nationally recognized healthcare system.
Clinical Setting
You will work on a surgical-oncology stepdown unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital, consistently ranked as a national healthcare leader in safety, quality, and patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
- Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpret trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
- Conduct all patient care in a patient and family-centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
- Advocate for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provide counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues
- Access resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient and family transition planning
- Document all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation
- Evaluate processes to achieve outcomes, anticipate patient variances, and make revisions to plans of care
- Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and clinical intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision-making in all team members
- Communicate effectively, work cooperatively with others, and demonstrate respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines
- Assist staff to assess patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
- Provide direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor; delegate patient care activities and coordinate unit activities as needed
- Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery and ensure that the process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration
- Demonstrate evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintain your own continuing education record
- Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes and contribute to performance improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. If you hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), you must complete a BSN within 5 years of your start date
- Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or hold an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
