Bridgeport Hospital is seeking a New Graduate Registered Nurse to join our clinical team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care using the nursing process, taking responsibility for assessing patient needs, planning care, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This position is designed to support new graduates as they transition into professional nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform health assessments including patient interviews, observation, data collection, systems assessment, and identification of patient support systems on admission
- Develop and initiate clinical care pathways based on admission assessments and hospital nursing care guidelines
- Prioritize and implement patient care to meet identified health care needs
- Evaluate patient responses to medical and nursing interventions against expected outcomes
- Document patient outcomes accurately and consistently, including completion of admission assessment forms
- Perform decentralized laboratory testing as credentialed, including appropriate specimen collection, test performance, and result interpretation
- Identify areas for personal performance improvement through self-assessment and ongoing communication with your supervisor
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree)
- Current Connecticut RN license
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Successful completion of orientation
Education
- Candidates with a Diploma or Associate's Degree must show evidence of active enrollment in a BSN or MSN program
