New Graduate Registered Nurse: Unity Hospital Adult ED Fellowship

Join Rochester Regional Health as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in the Adult Emergency Department Fellowship Program at Unity Hospital. This education-oriented fellowship is designed exclusively for December 2026 RN graduates, with a start date of March 2027. You will work in one of the busiest emergency departments in New York State outside of New York City, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical environment while determining if emergency nursing is right for you.

Clinical Setting

Unity Hospital's Adult Emergency Department serves a high-volume patient population in a fast-paced setting. The fellowship provides structured training alongside experienced professionals who are committed to your success and professional development.

Program Structure

The Adult ED Fellowship features:

• Cohort-based orientation with peer support
• Emergency Department training with additional opportunities to develop nursing skills through time spent on medical and surgical units
• Frequent education sessions led by Adult ED Fellowship leaders

Responsibilities

• Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members
• Perform various treatment procedures and provide physical, educational, and emotional support to patients, families, and friends
• Supervise assigned team members as appropriate
• Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient's unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team
• Maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans, and progress
• Demonstrate proficient use of the electronic health record (EHR), including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication
• Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, and federal), and education requirements

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse license in New York State
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Schedule and Shifts

• 36 hours per week
• Day/Evening and Evening/Night shifts available based on unit requirements
• Every other weekend rotation

Physical Requirements

This is a moderate clinical role requiring continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. You will perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. Compensation

• Base pay range: $38.66 - $52.99 per hour
• Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts
• Eligible for additional pay components
