St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee is hiring New Graduate Registered Nurses for the Medical/Surgical Unit. This is an excellent opportunity for newly licensed RNs to begin their nursing career with comprehensive orientation and preceptor support in an acute care hospital setting.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will provide direct patient care within the scope of practice, communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. You will also direct and guide patient and family teaching while maintaining standards of care and patient privacy.
New Graduate Orientation
- 8 to 16 weeks of structured orientation (duration varies by unit)
- Assigned preceptor to support your transition to practice
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, direct patient care on the Medical/Surgical Unit
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
- Monitor patients including cardiac monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring
- Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, diagnostic study results, and abnormal findings
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response
- Direct and guide activities of other nursing personnel
- Provide patient and family teaching
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Maintain accountability for care provided to assigned patients
Required Qualifications

Schedule
- Full-time position
- 12-hour shifts
- 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Variable shift schedule
Compensation and Benefits
- Sign-on bonus of $10,000 available for qualified candidates (eligibility and payout terms apply; details discussed during interview)
- Competitive compensation with estimated wages and benefits ranging from $35.35 to $53.58 per hour
