The opportunity

Job Description

Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), the region's only Level I Trauma Center, is seeking a New Graduate Registered Nurse for the Trauma Acute Care Unit. This position offers new graduate nurses the opportunity to build a strong clinical foundation while providing specialized nursing care to patients recovering from traumatic injuries and acute surgical conditions.

Clinical Setting

The trauma acute care unit is part of Atrium Health's flagship hospital in Charlotte, NC, a Magnet-designated facility and approved transplant center. The unit collaborates closely with the Surgical Trauma Service and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care throughout the recovery journey.

Patient Population

Patients on this unit include individuals recovering from a wide range of blunt and penetrating traumatic injuries, including orthopedic, thoracic, abdominal, and other trauma-related conditions requiring acute inpatient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience
  • Develop strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills while caring for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment
  • Work alongside experienced trauma professionals in a collaborative team environment dedicated to teamwork and continuous learning

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
