Job Description

Saint Vincent Hospital is hiring new graduate registered nurses for a comprehensive 12-month New Graduate RN program beginning May and August 2026. This program is designed to support your transition from nursing student to practicing RN through hands-on clinical experience, structured education, and mentorship from experienced nurses and clinical educators.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing safe and competent patient care across multiple clinical settings including Cardiac, Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, Progressive Care, and other specialty units. The program is structured to help you develop essential skills in patient assessment, care planning, delegation, priority setting, and holistic patient care through interdisciplinary communication.

Clinical Setting

Saint Vincent Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering advanced services including heart and vascular care, comprehensive orthopedics and rehabilitation programs, robotic surgery (Da Vinci) and Cyberknife technology, and women and infants programs. You will have the opportunity to experience different shifts, patient populations, and unit cultures throughout your 12-month program.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and implement direct nursing care for assigned patients
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide safe patient care
  • Assume responsibility for supervision of staff to whom nursing care is appropriately delegated
  • Develop clinical and critical thinking skills through hands-on experience
  • Establish valuable professional relationships and communication skills

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a state-approved or accredited school of nursing, or current enrollment with graduation date within the next 12 months
  • Current licensure, certification, or registration to practice as an RN as required by state law and regulation
  • Current CPR certification
  • Successful completion of background check and pre-employment health screening, including drug screen
  • Compliance with mandatory vaccination requirements or approved medical/religious exemption; if exempted, regular testing will be required per applicable law

Externship Opportunity

If you have not yet graduated, Saint Vincent Hospital offers externships to build your skills and gain hands-on experience while completing your nursing education. Externships provide an opportunity to learn about the hospital culture and specific units of interest before graduation.
