Join Carolinas Medical Center's 5 Tower surgical unit as a New Graduate Registered Nurse. This med/surg unit specializes in GI and head and neck surgeries, working with multiple surgery groups performing procedures including tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgery, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and ostomy takedowns. Patients typically have drains, wound vacs, and Foley catheters requiring skilled post-operative care.
Clinical Setting
5 Tower is part of Carolinas Medical Center, the flagship hospital of Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. CMC is the region's only Level 1 Trauma center, is Magnet-designated, and serves as an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas, and liver. The hospital is one of North Carolina's five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals and provides residency training for more than 200 physicians across 15 specialties.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
- Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
- Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis (visa sponsorship is not available)
Schedule
- Full-time position, 36 hours per week
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Holiday and weekend rotation required
Compensation and Benefits
- Base compensation: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour, based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
