Join Aurora Medical Center Grafton as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit. This 16-bed unit specializes in caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients, including those recovering from lobectomies and esophagectomies, as well as cardiac overflow patients, stroke patients, and others requiring higher acuity monitoring. The unit offers an excellent learning environment for newly licensed RNs, with access to advanced monitoring capabilities and experience managing cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other complex patient needs.

Aurora Medical Center Grafton is a 132-bed facility recognized as a leading destination for healthcare. The hospital is supported by a team of more than 450 nurses and offers private patient rooms, comfortable family areas, and comprehensive specialized services including cardiovascular health, women's services, orthopedics, emergency medicine, surgery, and neuroscience. The facility is preparing for significant expansion, with a new patient tower scheduled to open in 2027.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
- Use evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making to create the safest patient environment
- Communicate compassionately with patients and interdisciplinary team members
- Lead efforts to enhance patient experience across the continuum of care
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
Schedule
- Full-time position (0.9 FTE)
- Flex schedule: 0700-1930 or 1900-1930 depending on unit need and staffing
- Assigned to a shift in 6-week schedule increments
- Every fourth weekend and rotating holiday commitments required
- New graduates must remain at 0.9 FTE for one year off orientation
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour
- Base compensation determined by qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday
- Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks
- Must be able to push/pull up to 30 pounds and assist with 150-pound sliding transfers
- Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures
- Must be able to operate equipment foot controls
- Must respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste may occur; appropriate protective equipment must be used
