New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN)- Maternity

This position offers a comprehensive orientation and mentorship program for newly licensed registered nurses entering the maternity specialty. You will provide direct patient care to mothers and newborns throughout the perinatal continuum, working within a structured framework that supports your transition from nursing school to clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process, engaging patients and families throughout their care
• Monitor patient conditions and adjust care plans as needed, mobilizing resources and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to clinical protocols and procedures
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served, including understanding principles of growth and development and assessing age-specific patient needs
• Participate in unit councils, professional governance, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance care processes and apply evidence-based practices
• Communicate effectively with team members, provide and receive feedback, and resolve conflicts constructively
• Delegate appropriately to other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel
• Uphold and promote a culture of safety
• Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and take action as needed
• Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications
• Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics, practice ethical decision-making, and respect interdisciplinary roles
• May be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
• Lift and support patient weight up to 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies
• Push or pull with 30 pounds of force and perform sliding transfers of 150 pounds with a second person present
• Possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other clinical procedures
• Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
• Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation if needed
• Respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions
• Tolerate exposure to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease; wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program
• Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where providing client nursing services
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
• Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Proficiency with computer functions including email, electronic records, and digital platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
