The opportunity

Job Description

Join MetroWest Medical Center's RN Residency program as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit. This is a comprehensive 12-month residency designed to support your transition from nursing student to professional nurse in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing safe and competent patient care to women during labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period. You will assess, plan, and implement direct nursing care for assigned patients, and assume responsibility for supervising staff to whom nursing care is appropriately delegated. The program combines expert mentorship, hands-on learning, and collaboration with experienced nurses and fellow new graduate RNs to help you build confidence and critical thinking skills specific to LDRP nursing.

Clinical Setting

MetroWest Medical Center is the largest community healthcare system between Worcester and Boston, comprising Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients in the LDRP unit
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Implement nursing interventions and monitor patient responses
  • Supervise delegated nursing care tasks
  • Communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Develop delegation and priority-setting skills
  • Provide holistic patient care through interdisciplinary communication
  • Establish valuable professional relationships with colleagues and patients

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from a state-approved or accredited school of nursing
  • Active RN license in the state of practice prior to the start date
  • Current CPR certification
  • Successfully pass a background check and pre-employment health screening, including drug screen
  • Proof of full vaccination or approved religious or medical exemption prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior LDRP or women's health experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, or PCA
  • Completed a senior practicum or capstone experience in a Labor & Delivery or Postpartum unit

Program Details

The residency offers a 12-month comprehensive curriculum focused on creating a solid foundation at the start of your nursing career. You will have the opportunity to experience different shifts, patient populations, and unit cultures. The program is designed to help you develop delegation and priority-setting skills and establish valuable professional relationships.

Start Dates

Applications are being accepted for November 16, 2026 and December 7, 2026 LDRP RN Residency Cohorts. An active RN license is required prior to your start date.
