New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool

Join MedStar Health as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in our year-long Nurse Residency Program. This full-time position offers the opportunity to gain diverse clinical experience across multiple medical-surgical units while receiving structured support and mentorship designed to transition you from new to practice to professional nurse and clinical leader at the bedside.

You will float among several specialized units, each with 48 beds, including post-surgical care, intermediate care, cardiac telemetry, stroke and neurological care, renal care, and our short stay unit. You may also support ED boarders as needed.

Clinical Setting

This position rotates across multiple units within our health system:

• Tower 1: Medical-surgical unit specializing in post-surgical care
• Tower 3: Medical-surgical intermediate care unit
• Tower 4: Medical-surgical cardiac telemetry unit
• Tower 5: Medical-surgical unit specializing in stroke and neurological illnesses
• Tower 6: Medical-surgical unit specializing in renal care
• 4CA/4CB: Short Stay Unit
• ED Boarders

Nurse Residency Program

You will participate in a year-long New to Practice Nurse Residency Program based on the Vizient Model. The program includes a series of structured learning and practice experiences to support your transition into professional nursing practice. Upon successful completion, you will be promoted to a Clinical Nurse II role.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every 3rd weekend rotation
• Holiday package included

Required Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing
• Active Maryland RN license or Active Compact State RN license
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or American Red Cross) required by completion of introductory period
• Prior RN experience is not required
