The opportunity

Job Description

MetroWest Medical Center is hiring for our November 16th, 2026 Emergency Department RN Residency Cohort. This is a comprehensive 12-month new graduate residency program designed to help you successfully transition from student to professional nurse in a fast-paced emergency care environment. You will join a supportive community of clinical educators, experienced nurses, and fellow new graduate RNs dedicated to your professional development.

Clinical Setting

MetroWest Medical Center is the largest community health care system between Worcester and Boston, operating a 307-bed regional healthcare system that includes Framingham Union Hospital, Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, and the MetroWest Wellness Center. Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and competent patient care
  • Assess, plan, and implement direct nursing care to assigned patients
  • Assume responsibility for supervision of staff to which nursing care is appropriately delegated
  • Develop delegation and priority setting skills
  • Provide holistic patient care through interdisciplinary communication
  • Establish valuable professional relationships
  • Experience different shifts, patient populations, and unit cultures as part of the residency program

Program Overview

The residency program combines expert mentorship, hands-on learning, and collaborative teamwork to help you build the confidence and critical thinking skills needed for success in emergency nursing. The program is designed to help you develop a solid foundation at the start of your nursing profession.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from a state-approved school of nursing or an accredited school, or currently enrolled in nursing school with a graduation date within the next 6 months
  • Active RN license prior to the November 16th start date
  • CPR certification
  • Successfully pass a background check and pre-employment health screening, which includes a drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Emergency Department experience
  • EMT certification or experience
  • ED Technician experience
  • Paramedic certification or experience
  • Completion of a senior practicum or capstone experience in the Emergency Department

Education

Graduation from a state-approved school of nursing or an accredited school is required. Candidates currently enrolled in nursing school must have a graduation date within the next 6 months. If you have not yet graduated, MetroWest Medical Center offers externships to help you continue building your skills and gain hands-on experience before the residency start date.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Active RN license (required prior to start date)
  • CPR certification

Additional Requirements

Tenet complies with federal, state, and local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.

Compensation

Up to $15,000 sign-on bonus, paid as you go. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits package included.
