VCU Health is seeking a New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant Inpatient Unit on a rotating shift schedule. This position offers an exceptional entry point into nursing practice through VCU Health's comprehensive 12-month VIZIENT Nurse Residency Program, developed in collaboration with the VCU School of Nursing.
All new graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in this structured residency program designed to support your transition into practice and help you thrive in your first year. The program focuses on developing clinical leadership, decision-making skills, and hands-on learning to ensure you deliver exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse I, you will integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families. Your responsibilities include:
- Provide direct, age-specific care to patients or groups of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions
- Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort
- Accurately document all patient care
- Provide direction and education to patients and families
- Begin to acquire leadership skills at the unit level
- Organize work and delegate and supervise others (RNs, LPNs, care partners, unit secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments
Required Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state's Board of Nursing
- Current RN licensure in Virginia and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent for continued employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or as applicable to the area of practice
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program
Education Requirements
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date, unless grandfathered under previous requirements.
Schedule and Shifts
- Rotating shifts including all three shifts (day, evening, night)
- Weekends and holidays required
- Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager
- Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements

Compensation
- Clinical Nurse I: $34.00 - $49.50 per hour
- Sign-on bonus of $2,000 for offers accepted by October 31, 2026 (terms and conditions may apply)
