New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) - Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant Inpatient Unit - Rotating

VCU Health is seeking a New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant Inpatient Unit on a rotating shift schedule. This position offers an excellent opportunity to launch your nursing career with comprehensive support through our 12-month VIZIENT Nurse Residency Program, developed in collaboration with the VCU School of Nursing.

All new graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program, which is designed to support your transition into practice and help you thrive in your first year. The program focuses on developing clinical leadership, decision-making skills, and hands-on learning to ensure you deliver exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse I, you will integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families. Your responsibilities include:

• Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort
• Provide direction, education, and begin to acquire leadership skills at the unit level
• Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care
• Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions
• Organize work and delegate and supervise others (RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments

Required Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state's Board of Nursing
• Current RN licensure in Virginia and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent for continued employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program

Education Requirements

All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements.

Schedule and Shifts

• All three shifts (rotating schedule)
• Weekends and holidays required
• Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager
• Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements

Compensation

Clinical Nurse I: $34.00 - $49.50 per hour

Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors including relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.

Independent Practice Requirements

• Follow documented physician/licensed independent provider orders
• Practice within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Practice guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards
• Follow all VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice
