Join Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in the Mattei Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU (CTICU). This role provides inpatient intensive care to adult and geriatric patients in the immediate postoperative phase following cardiac surgery. You will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
Clinical Setting
The CTICU at Carolinas Medical Center is part of Atrium Health's flagship hospital in Charlotte, NC, distinguished throughout the Southeastern United States for excellent patient care and medical expertise. CMC serves as the region's only Level 1 Trauma center, is Magnet-designated, and an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas, and liver. The hospital also serves as one of North Carolina's five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals.
Patient Population and Procedures
You will care for patients undergoing a range of cardiothoracic procedures, including:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and minimally invasive CABG
- Valve repair or replacement
- Orthotopic heart transplant
- Ventricular assist device (VAD) placement
- Aortic aneurysm repair
- VA and ECMO cannulations
- Congenital heart defect repairs
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
- Use evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making to guide patient care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
