New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) – Admissions Discharge Transition Unit

Join the Admission Discharge Transition Unit (6CD) at Carolinas Medical Center, a dynamic medical unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role is designed for new graduate registered nurses seeking to launch their nursing career in a supportive environment. The unit specializes in facilitating patient flow and throughput by managing timely admissions and discharges, helping decompress the Emergency Department while providing comprehensive care across the continuum.

The 6CD team cares for patients with a wide range of clinical diagnoses, including acute medical conditions, post-operative recovery, and those requiring telemetry monitoring. You will work alongside experienced nurses and clinical professionals in a setting that emphasizes comprehensive assessment, stabilization, and transition planning to ensure safe and efficient patient movement through the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making to create the safest patient environment
• Communicate effectively and lead efforts to optimize patient experience across the continuum of care
• Participate in comprehensive patient assessment, stabilization, and transition planning

Clinical Setting

Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. The hospital is distinguished throughout the Southeastern United States for excellent patient care and medical expertise. CMC serves as the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center, holds Magnet designation, and is an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas, and liver. The hospital also serves as one of North Carolina's five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties and serves as a regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you will practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis (employment visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
