Join Rochester Regional Health's Adult Emergency Department Nurse Fellowship Program at Rochester General Hospital, a cohort-based program designed exclusively for recent nursing graduates. This fellowship provides comprehensive training in one of the busiest emergency departments in New York State outside of New York City, offering you the opportunity to experience a fast-paced clinical environment while determining if emergency nursing is right for you.
You will work in the Adult Emergency Department at Rochester General Hospital, one of the region's highest-volume EDs. The fellowship includes rotations across the Emergency Department, Cardiac, Critical Care, and Medical-Surgical units to develop a broad nursing skillset.
This is a moderate clinical role requiring continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. You will perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee or their physician.
