Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a 0.5 FTE Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join an established group of neonatologists and NNPs in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This position provides care in an 18-bed, level III NICU with private rooms located in Legacy Hospital. The NICU serves a growing population with an average daily census of 12, approximately 270 admissions annually representing 4,258 patient days, and maintains Vermont Oxford outcomes among the best in the nation.
Clinical Setting
The NICU is supported by a dedicated pediatric respiratory therapy group that manages conventional and high-frequency ventilation. NNPs work collaboratively with neonatologists, pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, a dedicated Pediatric Hospital Service, PICU, pediatric surgeon, and pediatric anesthesiologist. The program includes a Neonet telemedicine service available throughout a tri-state service area covering Northeastern Iowa, Eastern Minnesota, and South-Central Wisconsin. The facility supports family-centered, baby-friendly care through a mother-baby couplet program and maintains a certified pediatric medical home. The active OB department delivered approximately 1,700+ newborns last year, with 11-14% resulting in NICU admission.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care in the NICU
- Respond to newborn events and attend high-risk deliveries
- Provide transport support as needed for the RN/RT-led neonatal ground and air transport team serving the tri-state area
- Teach and support students, residents, fellows, and clinical staff as part of the medical education mission
- Work under the direct supervision of a physician
- Provide outreach services as part of the system role when needed
Schedule
- 0.5 FTE position
- 24 shifts or variable shifts based on organizational and unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited NNP program
- Eligibility to obtain a license to practice in the multi-state region (Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota) with no restrictions or limitations
