Job Description

Morton Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and support to non-acutely ill patients in a mental health setting. Working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, you will assist patients with activities of daily living, provide basic nursing care, and help maintain a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the RN regarding treatment results, observations, patient complaints, and other pertinent information about patient condition
  • Demonstrate competence in providing patient care according to established hospital policies and procedures
  • Apply knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Perform and accurately report patient care data according to hospital policy and procedure
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient care
  • Assist in maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for patients and staff
  • Adapt to changes in workload and patient assignments
  • Perform accurately and precisely in crisis and emergency situations when time is essential
  • Perform functions of an Observation Assistant when needed
  • Complete work assignments within acceptable timeframes
  • Use time and resources efficiently to accomplish job responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain efficient working relationships
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Participate in team efforts to ensure quality services
  • Offer creative solutions to issues or concerns
  • Continually strive to improve work quality
  • Accept responsibility for work performed and take corrective action as needed

  • Willingness to assist in orientation of others and participate in mentoring
  • Ability to perform analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision
  • Recognition of when to seek assistance or consultation
  • Understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures including safety issues
  • Awareness of hospital programs and services and their locations

Education and Certifications

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Current BLS Certification

Schedule and Employment

  • Per diem position
  • Variable shifts
  • No driving required

Compensation

  • Pay range: $19.79 to $28.86 per hour
