Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Clinic - Primary Care

Join Aurora Medical Group, part of Advocate Health, as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Primary Care clinic. You will support the care team at Aurora Family Medicine in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, providing clinical and administrative support vital to patient care in a primary care setting.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will work alongside family medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed
• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care

Required Qualifications

• GED or high school equivalency diploma
• For MA: Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years
• For LPN: Valid Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days of hire, unless your department leader determines it is not required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
• Ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies
• Ability to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
• Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation if needed
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary
• Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required
• Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified by the nurse leader
