This is a 1:1 school-based private duty nursing position caring for an elementary-age boy throughout the school day. You will meet your student at school and provide direct care guided by the student's individual care plan. This is not a health-room school nurse role—you will work with the same student at the same school every day, building a consistent relationship with the student, family, and school team.
Clinical Setting
Charlotte area, NC 28105. School-based setting during the 2026–2027 school year.
Responsibilities
- Provide stand-by assistance with walking and transfers
- Monitor closely for safety and implement fall prevention strategies (falls are frequent)
- Monitor for seizure-like episodes
- Perform neuro checks as indicated
- Document care on a tablet
- Remain on your feet, stay close to your student, and be ready to assist throughout the shift
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. Off weekends, holidays, and every school break. No night shifts. Full-time or two part-time nurses may share this assignment.
Compensation
- LPN: $33 per hour
- RN: $39 per hour
- Pay depends on your license type

Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered LPN or RN license: North Carolina license, or multistate (compact) license issued by another compact state. If North Carolina is your primary state of residence, you must hold an NC license.
- LPN: One year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years (direct patient care with transferable clinical skills in pediatrics, home care, long-term care, acute care, or private duty nursing)
- RN: One year of related RN experience within the last 3 years, or one year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years
- Current CPR certification from an in-person course (online-only certifications are not accepted)
- Willingness to complete online assessments
- Ability to lift and reposition pediatric clients, assist with transfers, and remain alert and responsive throughout the assigned shift
- Reliable transportation to your assigned school or meeting location
Note: Newly licensed RNs with prior LPN experience may use that prior LPN experience to satisfy the experience requirement for this position.
