Nurses and More is seeking an LPN or RN for a 1:1 school-based private duty nursing position caring for an elementary-age boy throughout the school day. This is not a health room role—you will provide dedicated one-on-one care to the same student at the same school every day, building a consistent working relationship with the student, family, and school team.
Clinical Setting
You will meet your student at school. Nurses do not transport students. This is an active role requiring you to remain on your feet, stay close to your student, and be ready to assist throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
- Provide stand-by assistance with walking and transfers
- Monitor closely for safety and implement fall prevention strategies (falls are frequent)
- Monitor for seizure-like episodes
- Perform neuro checks as indicated by the student's care plan
- Document care on a tablet
- Follow the student's individual care plan throughout the school day
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. Off weekends, holidays, and all school breaks. No night shifts. Full-time or two part-time nurses may share this assignment.
Location
Charlotte area, NC 28105. Position is for the 2026–2027 school year.
Compensation
- LPN: $33 per hour
- RN: $39 per hour

Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered LPN or RN license. North Carolina license required if NC is your primary state of residence; otherwise, a multistate (compact) license issued by another compact state is acceptable.
- LPN: One year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years. Related experience includes direct patient care with transferable clinical skills in pediatrics, home care, long-term care, acute care, or private duty nursing.
- RN: One year of related RN experience within the last 3 years, or one year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years. Newly licensed RNs with prior LPN experience may satisfy the experience requirement.
- Current CPR certification from an in-person course (online-only certifications are not accepted)
- Willingness to complete online assessments
- Reliable transportation to the assigned school or meeting location
- Ability to lift and reposition pediatric clients, assist with transfers, and remain alert and responsive throughout the assigned shift
