Good Samaritan is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide professional nursing care for residents in our long-term care facility in Miller, South Dakota. This is a PRN (as-needed) position with a varying schedule.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a long-term care environment serving residents of all ages. Good Samaritan is a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for residents under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles and competency within the full scope of nursing expertise
- Assess residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of resident status
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
- Document resident interactions, outcomes, medications, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Counsel residents, family members, and resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician
- Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations
- Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing Board or possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span, or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility
- Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
- Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in practical nursing
Additional Requirements
If the position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota, you must have graduated from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completed an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Specific services or positions may have additional education, training, or experience requirements.

- Salary Range: $24.00 - $36.00 per hour
