Palmetto Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a PRN float pool position in our outpatient medical clinic. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of physicians and advanced practice providers, supporting clinical operations to ensure efficient and positive patient experiences.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a fast-paced outpatient medical clinic environment with frequent patient interaction. The position involves exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and medical equipment consistent with a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice
  • Perform clinical procedures including specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, dressing changes, and point-of-care testing
  • Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Monitor patient conditions and report changes or concerns to the provider
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, follow-up care, and preventive health measures
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, prescription refills, and follow-up appointments
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment according to infection control and safety standards
  • Follow clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and infection prevention protocols
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within the clinic setting
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as required
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, families, providers, and staff

Additional responsibilities may include assisting with orientation and training of new clinical staff, supporting front office operations during periods of high patient volume, assisting with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies, and participating in continuing education and professional development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of South Carolina
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience
  • Outpatient or ambulatory care experience
  • Experience with EMR systems

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment and perform clinical procedures
  • Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read medical records, medication labels, and computer screens
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in person and by telephone
