The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for an intermittent/PRN position at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. This role provides licensed practical nursing care to residents in a long-term care environment serving veterans. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote the well-being, health, and safety of residents in a person-centered setting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver licensed practical nursing care within the LPN scope of practice as defined by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote resident well-being, health, and safety
- Provide care in a person-centered, long-term care environment
- Complete electronic charting in PointClickCare
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation
Clinical Setting
This position is located at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Fergus Falls, a skilled nursing facility providing long-term care services to veterans.
Schedule and Shifts
This is an intermittent/PRN position with an irregular and uncertain schedule as the needs of the agency require. You must be available to work all three shifts and some weekends:
- Day shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Evening shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- Night shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
The posted opening is for the evening shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM).
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $28.01 - $35.83
- Shift differential: $2.25 per hour for all hours worked after 6:00 PM and before 6:00 AM
Required Qualifications
- Active Minnesota license as a Licensed Practical Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing (or ability to obtain licensure by date of hire)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (or ability to be certified by date of hire)
- Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting, specifically in PointClickCare
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and keep clear and accurate notes and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment
- Experience working with veterans
- Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check
- Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest X-ray prior to employment
- Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists
Important Note
Current State of Minnesota employees will not be considered for concurrent appointments at this time due to overtime considerations and the irregular work schedule requirements of this position.
