LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Highlands Orthopedic Surgery - AM (710)

UAB Medicine is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time AM shift position in Highlands Orthopedic Surgery. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients under general supervision, working collaboratively with the nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care based on established nursing standards and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process and UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care
• Collect patient assessment data and notify the RN of potential problems
• Orient patients and family members to the surrounding environment
• Act as a patient advocate
• Evaluate patient response to care and report findings to the RN
• Document delivery of patient care
• Respond effectively to emergency situations
• Meet patients' educational needs
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program or equivalent
• Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), or must obtain certification within 30 days of employment

Additional Certifications

• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required

• Full-time AM shift

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $22.90 - $37.25 per hour
