LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - General Surgery

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our outpatient clinic team in a General Surgery setting. This is a full-time, regular position offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. You will provide primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families in a team-oriented ambulatory care environment that empowers LPNs to practice at the top of their license.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an outpatient clinic environment at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, supporting General Surgery patients across the age ranges served by your assigned clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provide basic medical data for the provider
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider
• Assist the provider in performing minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with accuracy and efficiency
• Execute and document ongoing patient communication as directed by the provider
• Prioritize communication to the provider and respond to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient needs
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice
• Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases
• Ensure required levels of asepsis and availability of appropriate instruments and equipment
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record
• Maintain a clean environment

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
• Hours rotating between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
