GSS NE Alma is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time position working straight night shifts in our long-term care facility. This role provides professional nursing care to residents of all ages under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a not-for-profit long-term care facility with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care settings
  • Assess residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered
  • Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
  • Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations
  • Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
  • Counsel residents, family members, and resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician
  • Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles
  • Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Full-time position
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
  • Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with your state nursing board or possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span, or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility
  • Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in practical nursing

Additional Requirements

  • If the position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota, graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required
  • Drug screen and pre-employment background screening required as a condition of employment
