LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Emergency Department

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Emergency Department on a rotating shift schedule. This is a regular position working 36 scheduled hours per week.

You will provide primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions. You will work in a fast-paced clinical environment supporting emergency care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provide basic medical data for the provider
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider
• Assist the provider in performing minor surgical and diagnostic procedures
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice
• Execute and document ongoing patient communication as directed by the provider
• Prioritize communication to the provider and respond to patient questions and requests
• Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring appropriate asepsis and availability of instruments and equipment
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record
• Promote a clean environment and meet qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age ranges on the assigned clinical area

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from a Specialty Training Program
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Licensed Practical Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Schedule and Compensation

• Rotating shifts (including evening, night, and weekend availability)
• 36 scheduled hours per week
• Up to $5 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts
• $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates
• Up to $40,000 in financial support to become an RN
