The opportunity

Job Description

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Emergency Department on the night shift. This is a regular, full-time position offering competitive compensation including a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, market-leading hiring rates, and up to $5 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts. Geisinger also provides up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue RN licensure.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a fast-paced inpatient emergency department environment at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, an ANCC Magnet-recognized health care organization.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute data to patient assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
  • Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure
  • Reinforce patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and plan of care based on patient response
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice
  • Provide input to the manager for performance appraisals of care delivery team members
  • Precept and mentor new staff and students in a professional, positive manner as assigned
  • Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction

Schedule

  • Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 36
  • Every other weekend and holiday requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing
  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
