Homewood Living Frederick is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for day shift work in a senior living community. In this role, you will deliver direct nursing care to residents while leading and supporting nursing assistants and hospitality aides. You will be at the center of residents' well-being, combining clinical expertise with compassionate care in a faith-based retirement community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved nursing techniques
  • Maintain accurate and descriptive records of medical and nursing care provided to residents
  • Assign and monitor daily resident care duties to nursing assistants and hospitality aides, evaluating the quality of care delivered
  • Transcribe and carry out all physicians' orders and assist with physician visits
  • Participate in resident care planning and evaluation of residents' physical and psychological needs
  • Respond to residents' needs using proper nursing techniques and protocol
  • Assist with admissions and discharges of residents
  • Assist in the management of nursing assistants and hospitality aides
  • Provide direct resident care as time and responsibilities permit
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, medical conditions, family matters, and personnel information
  • Comply with established corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform additional functions as directed by supervisor

Clinical Setting

You will work in a senior living community caring for elderly residents in a retirement community setting.

Schedule

  • Full-time day shift position
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, twisting, and turning throughout an eight-hour shift
  • Standing and walking distances across campus are required while evaluating residents, supporting staff, and responding to emergency needs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, and turn frequently throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds when assisting co-workers with resident lifts and transfers several times throughout the shift
  • Ability to push a medication cart when dispensing medications
  • Ability to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in response to unexpected resident behavior

Required Qualifications

  • Current and valid LPN license in the state where you will provide care
  • Judgment capabilities, initiative, and dependability
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English well
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate with residents at a level they can understand
