Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology

This is a locum position for an experienced Nurse Practitioner specializing in inpatient cardiology. You will provide advanced practice care in a hospital-based setting, functioning independently alongside an Interventional Cardiologist. The role focuses on 100% inpatient care for adult and geriatric patients, with an average patient volume of 10-15+ patients per day depending on hospital capacity.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient cardiology care as an Advanced Practice Clinician
• Manage new patient admissions
• Conduct patient follow-ups and daily rounding
• Complete clinical documentation using EPIC
• Coordinate discharge planning and care coordination
• Function independently alongside the Interventional Cardiologist

Schedule

• Start date: September 8, 2026
• Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• First call duty required for weeknights and weekends
• Call coverage: Beeper/phone call on a 1:3 to 1:4 call ratio
• Average callback hours: Approximately 2 hours

Required Qualifications

• Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (required)
• Active Virginia nursing license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant clinical setting
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Current DEA certification
• Clean background with no history of malpractice or license-related issues
• New graduates are not eligible for this position

Credentialing and Licensing

• Temporary privileges available
• Estimated credentialing timeframe: ASAP
• EPIC EMR system experience preferred
