The opportunity

Job Description

This is a contract, on-site locum position for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a fast-paced urgent care environment. You will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with acute and episodic conditions, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and positive clinical outcomes.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an urgent care medical practice setting with a daily patient volume of 20-25 patients. A supervising physician will be on-site to support your clinical work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for urgent care patients
  • Perform physical examinations and obtain detailed patient histories
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines
  • Manage minor injuries, infections, and acute episodic conditions
  • Perform minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Document patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records (Epic)
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary team members
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, prevention, and follow-up care
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, protocols, and quality standards
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-friendly clinical environment
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinical best practice initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Associate-level clinical education and training as an NP or PA
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Board certification as an NP or PA
  • Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care settings
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to perform minor procedures and manage acute conditions
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
  • Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Weekends: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
