This on-site contract position offers an opportunity for a motivated healthcare professional to gain specialized experience in hematology oncology care. As a Locum NP or PA, you will provide comprehensive support to patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions in a collaborative clinical environment alongside experienced specialists. This role is ideal for entry-level candidates eager to develop expertise in a high-impact area of medical practice.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an outpatient hematology oncology department with 23 infusion chairs and 1 bed. The setting includes support from medical assistants, registered nurses, licensed nursing assistants, and other clinical staff. The department uses MediTech and Aria electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations for hematology and oncology patients
  • Assist physicians in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
  • Administer and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging studies
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and side effect management
  • Document all patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated care
  • Monitor patient progress, evaluate responses to treatment, and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide supportive care focused on symptom management and quality-of-life improvement
  • Participate in patient rounds, case discussions, and continuing education activities

Patient Volume and Duties

You will see approximately 12 patients daily, with duties focused on consults and follow-ups, primarily in benign hematology.

Schedule

  • Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • No call requirement
  • On-site position in Kingman for the duration of the contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) licensure in good standing
  • Current national board certification as an NP or PA
  • DEA certification
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical-thinking skills
  • Knowledge of oncology medications, chemotherapy protocols, and treatment side effects
  • Excellent patient communication and health education abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and documentation standards
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting

Experience

Entry-level experience is acceptable. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
