This is a contract, on-site locum position in General Surgery offering the opportunity to provide surgical care in a community-focused healthcare environment. You will work alongside experienced surgeons and healthcare professionals, delivering comprehensive patient care from preoperative assessment through postoperative management in a collaborative surgical practice.
Clinical Setting
- Outpatient setting in Tonasket
- General Surgery department
- Daily patient volume of 6-11 patients
- Support provided by physician and nursing staff
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and histories
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures as needed
- Provide postoperative care and management of surgical patients
- Perform minor surgical procedures and wound care management
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans in collaboration with the surgical team
- Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate for surgical care
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR)
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in patient rounds and clinical meetings
- Adhere to all medical practice protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Associate-level experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Current and unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of practice
- Board certification or board-eligible status as an NP or PA
- Experience or strong clinical background in General Surgery
- Ability to work on-site in Tonasket on a contract basis
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Willingness to adapt to varying clinical schedules and patient needs
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- No call required
