This is an on-site, contract locum position for an Associate-level Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in cardiology. You will work alongside experienced cardiologists and healthcare professionals in a collaborative, evidence-based practice environment focused on cardiovascular patient care. This role offers the opportunity to build your cardiology portfolio while providing immediate clinical impact in a fast-paced medical practice setting.
Clinical Setting
You will practice at a Level I trauma facility, working with an average daily volume of 6 patients. The clinical environment emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, patient-centered care, and evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical exams focused on cardiovascular health
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions, including hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as ECG, echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitors, and laboratory work
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other healthcare team members
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations, clinical guidelines, and patient needs
- Educate patients and families on heart-healthy lifestyles, medication management, and disease prevention strategies
- Document all patient encounters accurately and timely using Epic electronic health records
- Participate in care coordination, follow-up visits, and discharge planning to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Respond to urgent cardiac situations and provide immediate, evidence-based interventions as needed
- Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and primary care providers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to cardiovascular care
- Stay current with advances in cardiology practice, guidelines, and technologies
Required Qualifications
- Active licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Minimum of 2 years of cardiology experience
- Board certification
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Strong knowledge of cardiac diagnostics, treatment protocols, and patient management strategies
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary medical team
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and support staff
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records and standard medical documentation practices
- Flexibility to work on-site in Charlotte and adapt to changing clinical demands in a locum contract role
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate-level clinical experience with demonstrated focus in cardiology or a related cardiovascular setting
- Cardiology-specific experience such as managing heart failure, arrhythmia, or post-cardiac procedure patients
Schedule
- 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., 7 days on/7 days off
- No call duties
