Locum NP (Nurse Practitioner) Family Medicine

This is a locum contract position for a Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan in the Raton community. You will work as part of a collaborative family medicine team, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute episodic visits alongside physicians and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary and family medicine care to patients of all ages
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work and imaging
• Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Provide preventive care, including immunizations, screenings, and health counseling
• Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic health records
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on health management and disease prevention
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner licensure and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
• Board certification
• Associate-level experience in family medicine or primary care settings
• Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically CPRS
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work on-site in Raton and adapt to a contract-based schedule
• Experience with chronic disease management and preventive care
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in patient documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Current BLS or ACLS certification

Licenses and Certifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license (any state license accepted)
• Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification
• DEA registration
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No call requirement
• Daily patient volume: approximately 10 patients
