Licensed Veterinary Technician - Emergency Triage and In-Patient Care

Animal Specialty Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join the Emergency department. In this role, you will provide emergency triage and in-patient care to animals in a specialty hospital setting, working alongside Emergency Veterinarians to manage cases from all specialty services.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency triage and assess patients, obtaining vital signs
• Conduct venipuncture and place IV catheters
• Provide nursing care and monitoring to hospitalized patients
• Prepare patients for anesthesia and surgery, and manage patient recovery
• Run in-house laboratory testing and operate laboratory equipment such as Cubex
• Fill prescriptions and dispense oral and intravenous medications
• Administer medications and manage drug administration
• Perform radiographs and ECG monitoring
• Provide client education
• Perform advanced procedures including central line placement, urinary catheter placement, nasogastric tube placement, nasal cannula placement, maintenance of indwelling tubes (chest tube, feeding tube), and blood transfusions
• Contribute to hospital operations and assist with daily duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license or ability to obtain licensure with employer support
• Strong experience with in-patient care, in-house laboratory operation, venipuncture, and radiology
• Demonstrated ability in emergency triage and patient assessment
• Advanced CPR certification

Certifications

• RECOVER certification will be provided to all employees
• Fear Free Training will be provided

Schedule

• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Day shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM
• Overnight shifts: 8:00 PM - 8:30 AM (with shift differential)
• Swing shifts: 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM
• Schedule will not be a combination of days and overnights unless requested
• Overnights and swing shifts are available

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $28 - $38 per hour, pending skills assessment leveling
• Shift Differential:
• Monday-Thursday overnights: Base + $4
• Friday-Sunday overnights: Base + $6
• Saturday-Sunday days: Base + $4
